Wes and I got engaged in the previous November 2016 and had decided to look into all the options that we could find in hoping to get married later the following year. With living in England and myself having worked in the wedding industry I was already aware of the work that lay ahead in planning a wedding day. After many venue visits and pointless internet searches we hadn’t really found anywhere that could offer what we were looking for. There also was one significant area in which we had to keep in mind and that was that we were working with a fairly tight budget. Once I had exhausted all of our options within mine and my husbands local area the idea of maybe going abroad quite soon became appealing to us. I got thinking and in all honestly I didn’t know where to start? I was bridesmaid for a family member who used my secret Italy to plan her own wedding 2 years previous and was completely blown away by the entire experience but I didn’t believe that Julie would be able match our budget.
However I decided that I would at least call Julie to see whether I was even being realistic in considering going abroad for our wedding and whether she could give me some advice. I had met Julie before so I knew her to be a chatty, friendly inviting person and so making the phone call felt very easy and natural. I mentioned some of my wishes to Julie, I told her that we were happy to be fairly flexible with any plans and ideas and obviously mentioned our budget. I was pleasantly surprised to find how accommodating Julie was with regards to this and to our surprise she happily agreed to take on our wedding.
Julie has often commented and laughed at our particularly laid back attitude and although It may sound like a pleasure I almost think it was equally a hindrance for her to work with, however Julie was able to use her intuition out of just a few conversations over the phone and one brief chat over a coffee that we felt secure Julie understood what our general vibe was and how she was going to create it. We happily left the rest in Julie hands.
We were the second wedding in that week for Julie and we were a bit apprehensive as to whether Julie may be over run with exhaustion, however the day of the wedding arrived and Julie’s arrangements all went to plan and as timed. We were given a detailed list of what we were to expect and it flowed perfectly, flowers, photographer, cars, coaches, even dry cleaning for Wes’s suit was organised. Julie didn’t falter in her professionalism on the day. As me and my bridesmaids had finally gotten ready and made our way up to the spectacular location of San Francesco spa resort in Agropolli the magic started to unfold. I was absolutely blown away. Met with so many surprises that we did not account for in our budget, Julie saw to it that our day was to be nothing short of a fairy tale.
I was met with mandolin players then was escorted by them to the most beautiful garden courtyard which was where the ceremony was to take place. My 34 guests had all arrived where Julie and Emillie had organised and seated them accordingly.
After the ceremony we were taken up on a beautiful roof terrace at the front of the hotel where my guests got to enjoy bubbles, appetisers, photos and more mandolin playing whilst me and Wes had our photo’s taken around the resort. Afterwards we were all ushered into yet another terrace situated on the back of the hotel and this was incredible. it truly had the MOST spectacular sea view ever. The tables were decorated perfectly with fresh flowers and lit candles, fairy lights detailed the balcony as a sax player was warming up to entertain the incredible 4 course dinner that was about to ensue. My guests got to dine in style with a perfect golden sunset that capped the speeches off. We were stunned, I had no idea what we had even agreed to. Julie didn’t stop there, shortly after desert we were all whisked away to a lovely little wine bar where Julie surprised us one again with tasty treats and a live band. Knowing Wes and his groomsmen to be musicians themselves the band gave them the opportunity to all play together, everyone loved it and the party just got better. I could carry on but I wouldn’t have room left to type.
All that I can say is that you absolutely cannot plan a wedding like My Secret Italy does and most certainly not in England – even if your budget has no limit. Italy is perfect and beyond the most romantic county in the world. The food, local wine, sights, beaches and the general attitude of all who we came into contact with truly gave us a wedding that we believe can never be rivalled. We are very grateful to Julie and Emillie for all of their hard work and professionalism, none of which could come about without Julie’s obvious passion and love for weddings and people in the first place. We both thank you so much. Love from Caroline and Wes Broadstock.
