When we first met with Julie about 18 months ago, we discussed our ideas for a relaxed, Italian wedding. Julie seemed to understand our vision for a romantic but informal day and promised Santa Maria would bring us everything we hoped…and boy did she not disappoint!
It must not be forgotten that Julie is by definition a ‘wedding planner’ , she is there to ensure our day runs smoothly and our guests are well cared for, but we can honestly say that Julie did much, much more than plan our wedding. Not only has she taken care of us (and it has to be said, taken away a lot of the stress that comes with wedding planning!) but she has been in touch with our 38 guests every step of the way, organising their accommodation, transfers as well as boat trips and meals whilst we were in the beautiful setting of Santa Maria. Knowing the area and speaking the language, ourselves or our guests only needed to ask Julie’s advice and we could guarantee she would not disappoint. It is obvious that the locals think a lot of Julie and we and our guests were rewarded with the benefits of her loyalty throughout our stay.
In the week leading up to our big day, Julie continued to take care of us and our guests in Santa Maria. We never felt stressed or overwhelmed by the important decisions any bride and groom have to make along the way, Julie was there to offer her advice and support. Most importantly, we felt comfortable telling Julie our likes and dislikes (my husband is particularly difficult to please and I don’t doubt that I can be equally testing at times) but her personal service, calm manner and thoughtfulness along the way, made the whole experience even more special.
The day itself was truly spectacular. Now three weeks on, Tom and I still look back at snippets of the day or photographs and smile to ourselves. We chose to get married at Torre Perrotti on the roof terrace, followed by drinks in the local square and a beach barbecue at the Lido. The ceremony was well organised and guests were well cared for on what turned out to be a very hot day in July. Julie came to see me throughout the day, ensuring any nerves were kept at bay and organising for my dad to be collected and ready (this in itself is a challenge!) to escort me to the Torre. Julie threw in a few surprises along the way which were the icing on the cake. Speaking of cake, Julie’s daughter Emillie, was also there to help on the day and had baked us a delicious and fantastic looking wedding cake; another little surprise from Julie. The drinks in the square were a personal highlight with the minstrels entertaining guests with guitar and mandolin; this felt like the true Italy experience as we danced along to Ave Maria (well tried!). The beach BBQ was both tasteful and relaxed and had been beautifully decorated with fairy lights by Julie and her team. The food was equally tasty and just kept coming! Luigi and his band mates, another recommendation by Julie, were loved by all and had everyone up on the dance floor throughout the night. Tom and I chose to have fireworks at our wedding and I would definitely recommend this, we were amazed at how many we got for our budget. We kept the fireworks a secret, our guests were blown away by them and it added to the midnight magic as everyone started to wind down.
We know that everyone speaks of their wedding as the best day of their lives, but for us it was the best week and we have so many memories that we will treasure. Our guests haven’t stopped talking about it since we got back to the UK and have more than once described it as ‘the best wedding’ they have ever been to. We can’t thank Julie enough for helping us make these memories and can honestly say we would recommend her to anyone considering a wedding in Italy without hesitation.
Thank you Julie and your team!
