I married Phil Kelly on 25th August 2012 in Santa Maria, Castellebate. The purpose of this testimonial is to inform all brides to be about the best wedding planner ever! Her name is Julie McKenzie.
Like all brides, I’ve decided to start at the beginning! I first met Julie in October 2011, through my mum, Cathy Bell. In order to set the scene, I feel I need to describe my situation at that time, as I believe its probably very different to those who are reading this blog.
When Phil and I started planning our wedding I was in the process of recovering from a serious illness. However, I knew I wanted to follow my heart and continue planning the wedding of my dreams. In order to do this and recuperate, I realised I needed help to relieve the stress and pressure of planning the ‘big day’. This resulted in Julie and my mum being the integral parts of the wedding planning machine! Julie and my mum worked closely together for approximately 12 months to ensure Phil and I had the perfect day.
Like every bride I had visions of how I wanted my, ‘our’ big day to be! However, I had no idea how to articulate and action these plans. This is where Julie comes into her own domain. Julie makes it her priority to get to know the bride, groom and their family before the wedding. Therefore, she is able to advise on a wedding, which will meet everybody’s needs.
Julie is a warm and friendly person, who has lots of creative ideas. She immediately puts you at ease, which allows a bride to fulfil their dreams when planning their important day. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Julie.
After much deliberation Phil and I decided that we wanted to get married on top of the Torre Porretti, the ancient tower in Santa Maria. I think what swung it for us was meeting the baron and baroness, who own the tower. The baroness is wonderful! She made our wedding a very special day to remember. The tower itself is breath taking and the views are amazing. Fantastic photo opportunities.
The additional novel factor involves the major conducting your marriage ceremony! There is a lot to say about the major but I’ll leave that for another time! Following the ceremony Phil, myself, the best man and maid of honour headed towards the town hall in order to make the marriage official. The journey provided further amazing photo opportunities.
Our evening reception was held at the ‘Lido’. This is a restaurant situated on the sea front. Our time spent here with family and friends contributed fully to the entire wedding experience. I cannot thank the staff at the Lido enough for her input into our special day, their hospitality was very much appreciated by our entire party.
The Lido provides the ultimate safe environment for those all important ‘speeches’. When I was escorted to the room, with my husband! my breath was taken away by how spectacular the table and room was presented. It was beautiful, it passed all expectations and those of the guests that attended. The food was amazing too, which leads me on to how, as a gluten free consumer, all my dietary requirements were met! Our friends continue to comment on how lovely the food was at the Lido!
Throughout the wedding journey, the entire wedding party stayed at the Garden Riveria Hotel. I can report that this hotel is fantastic. Not only are there amazing views of Santa Maria but the staff are exceptional. Everybody is always willing to help!
The memories listed above are a brief recollection of mine and Phil’s special day, therefore it does no justice to the service we received from Julie McKenzie, Wedding Planner Extradonaire!
This testimonial would not be complete if I failed to mention Emilie, Julie’s daughter. Emilie is fully supportive of My Secret Italy and is credit to Julie. She is bright and creative and always on hand to help out. I also had many good nights out with Emilie!!
Phil and I have struggled to find the words to truly describe Julie’s part in our wedding. We agreed the word ‘vital’ springs to mind. I cannot imagine my wedding day without Julie. She was, going back to the start, the integral part of the wedding machine. What I’ve discovered with Julie is that a solution is always found and that therefore is the best testimonial a bride needs! What are you waiting for …
